The Swiss AI Initiative launched in December 2023 with an investment of over 10 million GPU hours and a grant of 20 million CHF from the ETH Domain. It is the largest open science and open source effort for AI foundation models globally and represents the first initiative of the Swiss National AI Institute, collaborating between the ETH AI Center and the EPFL AI Center.
