Claude Duet app is Anthropic’s bet on agents

Anthropic has introduced Claude Duet, an AI agent for professionals and small businesses that automates and manages work tasks. Built on the Claude Opus 5.5 model, Duet can create daily briefings and dashboards, suggest actions from user data, and complete tasks in the background through a virtual machine before requesting approval when needed. Duet connects with more than 6,000 connectors and plug-ins in the Claude Marketplace. It can make online purchases using Stripe’s Link digital wallet or Shopify’s Shop Pay, although Anthropic says payments require user approval. The agent cannot trade securities or transfer money between accounts. Anthropic distinguishes Duet from personal agents by saying it is not designed for errands or ticket booking, and it does not display its browser activity in real time. Anthropic says Duet proactively provides recommendations while monitoring ongoing tasks. A new message classifier is intended to prevent sensitive information from leaking, and Duet rejects requests for credit-card numbers and government identification by default. Claude Duet is in research preview for Claude Pro and Max customers on iOS, Android, and the web through Claude.ai; access requires joining a waitlist.
